Medical College at the International Medical University “Avicenna”

The Medical College at the International Medical University (IMU) was established in the 2023–2024 academic year to train highly qualified mid-level healthcare professionals.

The creation of the college was an important step in the development of the University’s educational system, allowing to expand the program range and provide students with the opportunity to receive medical education at different levels. The college was organized in accordance with modern educational standards, and its programs focus on practice-oriented learning, integration of advanced technologies, and international educational trends.

The training of mid-level health professionals is conducted in the following areas:

  1. General Medicine (study period – 3 years and 6 months)
  2. Nursing (study period – 2 years and 10 months)
  3. Medical Optics  (study period 2 years and 10 months)
  4. Midwifery (study period – 2 years and 10 months)
  5. Pharmacy (study period – 2 years and 10 months)

The teaching staff of the college consists of experienced doctors, lecturers, and researchers (candidates of medical sciences), many of whom have international experience and are experts in their fields. Digital technologies, simulation training, and modern teaching methods are actively implemented in the college.

The educational process includes theoretical disciplines, laboratory work, as well as practical training in leading medical institutions.

From the early years, the college has established itself as a prestigious educational institution providing quality education and successful employment of graduates. Thanks to partnerships with medical institutions and international organizations, students have access to advanced medical knowledge and practical experience, making them competitive in the labor market.

In the future, the Medical College at the International Medical University “Avicenna” plans to expand educational programs, implement new technologies in training, and strengthen cooperation with medical and educational institutions both nationally and internationally.

Main Goals and Objectives of the Medical College at the International Medical University “Avicenna”

Goals:

  1. Training of qualified specialists: Ensuring the preparation of competent mid-level healthcare specialists able to work effectively in modern medical institutions and meet international standards.
  2. Educational activity: Implementation of educational programs for mid-level professional education aimed at meeting the society’s needs for qualified medical staff.
  3. Creating mechanisms for assessing the quality and demand for educational services with the participation of stakeholders (employers, students, parents, healthcare organizations, etc.).
  4. Aligning the content and structure of professional education with labor market needs.
  5. Improving the local regulatory legal framework for the organization of the educational process of the college and the University.
  6. Enhancing the organizational culture of the college to achieve the established objectives.
  7. Increasing the role of professional associations in designing nursing education programs.
  8. Implementing a continuous professional development system for college faculty.
  9. Encouraging students’ high behavioral culture and continuous professional growth.
  10. Instilling patriotic feelings during training and personal behavior in society.
  11. Strengthening the quality of the college’s teaching staff.
  12. Applying teaching methodologies aimed at ensuring a competency-based approach to learning materials.

Objectives:

  1. Educational activity: Implement programs for mid-level professional education that meet modern standards and labor market requirements.
  2. Methodological support: Develop and implement modern educational technologies and teaching methods, including simulation technologies and active learning methods.
  3. Practical training: Provide students with opportunities for internships in leading medical institutions, contributing to the acquisition of necessary experience and skills.
  4. Research activity: Encourage students and teachers to participate in research work, conferences, and seminars to enhance professional level and share experience.
  5. International cooperation: Develop partnerships with foreign educational and medical institutions to exchange experience, improve education quality, and expand opportunities for students and teachers.
  6. Continuous education: Create conditions for the constant professional development and qualification enhancement of teachers and students, support the concept of continuous medical education.

These goals and objectives aim to ensure high-quality education at the Medical College at the International Medical University and prepare in-demand specialists capable of working effectively in the dynamically developing healthcare field.

Students undergo educational and production internships in the best medical institutions. The Medical College cooperates on a contractual basis with various medical and pharmaceutical institutions in the city. The practical training plan for students includes educational practice and production practice on professional modules conducted at the bases of medical facilities. All types of internships contribute to achieving the main goal of specialist training.

It should also be noted that the foundation of the college’s educational work is creating conditions for active student life, civic self-determination and self-realization, and satisfying the students’ needs for intellectual, cultural, and moral development.

All educational work directions are interconnected, complementary, and represent a purposeful and systematic activity to form among students the patriotic, ethical, moral, and spiritual qualities of personality and healthy lifestyle skills.
