The Academic Council is the highest elected representative body that provides overall guidance to the Avicenna International Medical University.

The purpose of the Academic Council’s work is:

determining current and prospective activities of the university;
combining the efforts of the university management, academic staff, and educational support staff in training specialists meeting contemporary requirements;
coordinating the university’s educational, methodological, research, and educational activities.

The composition and formation process of the Academic Council, its powers, leadership, rights, and responsibilities of its members, organization of work and meeting procedures are defined by the “Regulations on the Academic Council of Avicenna International Medical University”.

Main tasks of the Academic Council

determining the university structure and introducing changes;
making decisions on opening new areas of professional education programs for specialists;
approving educational programs and curricula;
approving key regulations governing educational, scientific, and educational work at the university;
determining procedures and organizing elections for rector, deans, and department heads;
reviewing issues related to awarding academic titles and filling academic positions;
resolving issues of international and inter-university cooperation;
awarding honorary titles of Avicenna International Medical University..
