Forensic medicine is one of the most exciting fields of medicine nowadays. Its primary purpose is to help the state in one of its primary functions i.e. providing justice to its people. In developed societies, forensic medicine and forensic science have led the way in developing technologies and techniques that have later been used by other fields of science.

It covers all facets that help injustice starting with forensic psychiatry helping in prediction of dangerousness in juvenile offenders to DNA analysis of crime scene evidence like blood, semen and other tissues. The forensic lab and museum assist in teaching these techniques to medical students. Other interesting applications are determining maternal and paternal lineages and the list goes on, as far as the human imagination.
